A gallup fellow was just on MSNBC talking about the past tracking polls. He gave MSNBC the scoop first, Obama now +7 over McCain. It seems that the bump is builing as the 3 day tracking is showed stong movement in Obama's favor that has now stabalized.
Gallup Poll
Obama 48%
McCain 41%
Barack Obama has a 48% to 41% lead in the latest Gallup Poll Daily tracking presidential election trial heat, based on June 7-9 polling.
Voting preferences have been fairly stable over the last three individual days of tracking polling, all conducted since Hillary Clinton officially suspended her candidacy and publicly endorsed Obama for president on Saturday.
The seven percentage point advantage is Obama's largest to date since Gallup began tracking the general election in March. In turn, McCain has led Obama by as many as six percentage points in early May. (To view the complete trend since Jan. 3, 2008,

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Tuesday shows Barack Obama attracts 48% of the vote while John McCain earns 40%. When "leaners" are included, Obama leads 50% to 43%. Those figures represent a modest one-week bounce for Obama. Last Tuesday, just before the Illinois Senator clinched the nomination, the candidates were tied at 46%
Edited: I know all of this is early and polls mean little, but looking beyond the numbers you can see where the trend is and get a quick pulse of the nation. It's a good sign that the party is uniting behind Obama. The bump was a slow build as larger numbers of Clinton backers didn't come back over until Clinton had exited the race. I hope that the trend continues and we can build a double digit lead into the late summer when the polls start to mean a little more.
Also should be noted, McCain has dropped every day in the last 5 days where he once stood at 45% He's been in the lower 40's now and I'd rather be on top at this point than clawing our way up for the next 5 months. We clawed our way up to get here. Would be nice to steer the ship for awhile instead of riding.
